Of all the many and excellent Cuban "descargas" this one, proudly presented by VAMPISOUL has been the most influental, hot and important of them all- and allegedly the first one. It is the accomplishment of an outstanding musician and conductor, ISRAEL "CACHAO" LOPEZ. The sociologist Raul Fernandez compared him to DUKE ELLINGTON, both transforming their basically dancemusic into a more abstract form for the listener, enabeling him to listen to it instead of only dancing to it. These recordings were made for Panart label, with only two to three minutes for the musicians to record (that is why they are called "miniatures"), and were equally influenced by Son and Rumba than rather only by Jazz. Amongst his admirers is actor Andy Garcia, who has been fighting to get CACHAO nominated for the Grammys and claims this album to be the best "bogaloo" recording ever made. The digipak CD combines the two different LPs, number one being the original recording and number 2 containing songs from the same era.
