The Flaming Sideburns returns to Bad Afro with a new 12-song compilation called Back To The Grave. The record is due May 8th and will be followed by a brand new album in October. The compilation is the first Bad Afro release from the Flaming Sideburns since their classic album Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah in 2001. The album still stands as one of the highlights that came out of the Scandinavian rock'n'roll boom. The Flaming Sideburns started out as a house band for the regular Bama Lama Parte-e-e in 1995 doing mostly covers of hits from the 60's. The Bama Lama soon became a big success in Helsinki and the band started to write their own material grooving on the Detroit sound (MC5 & Stooges) meets early Rolling Stones and the North West sound of The Sonics and Wailers. Their debut 7' was released on a local label and a copy ended up at the Bad Afro office in Copenhagen which soon led to the release of the Get Down or Get Out single in 1997. In the following years The Sideburns released two albums, four singles, a mini album as well as the split release with The Hellacopters on Bad Afro. The albums were later licensed out to other countries covering the US, Australia, Spain, Finland, Germany and Argentina. In 2003 The Flaming Sideburns recorded their latest full-length album 'Sky Pilots' on their own. The album was released in Europe, Northern America and Russia. The Flaming Sideburns line-up includes original members Jay Burnside (drums), Eduardo Martinez (vocals), Ski Williamson (guitars) and The Punisher (bass). Guitar player Peevo de Luxe joined the ranks in 2003. Recently they had a big 10 year anniversary party at Tavastia in Helsinki and are now ready for new adventures. The Back To The Grave compilation features 8 unreleased songs recorded around and between Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah and Sky Pilots, two vinyl-only b-sides from the Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah sessions, two hard to get compilation tracks and a storming tribute to the late Kike Turmix on Bamalama featuring Michael Monroe (taken from a b-side for a Spanish 7'). The compilation also includes the first two new songs recorded since Sky Pilots in form of Black Moon (Spanish lyrics and all) and Runnin' With Fumes that show great promise for the upcoming album.

'Aaah, The Wailers! We've recorded quite a few songs by these Northwest Superstars but 'Bad Trip' is something completely different. Psychedelia! That's what we like.'

'Not the Black Sabbath song. 'Evil Woman' comes from the Troggs and it was one of the first songs we ever rehearsed with the Sideburns back in 1995. This version was recorded in a matter of minutes before our show in AvilÚs, Spain.'
High Time (Unreleased track)
'The Sonics. That's where it all started and here we go again. 'High Time' is from their third album 'Maintaining My Cool' which some people think of as 'disappointing'. Think again!'
Let Me Go (Rare b-side from Street Survivor 7')
'Let Me Go' was meant for 'Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah' but it ended up as a b-side. Hard to see why.'
Funk 49 (Unreleased track)
'We went to check out the Seawolf Studios but had no songs to record with us! Hannu came up with this James Gang tune and we followed the lead.'
13 Women (Unreleased track)
'Bill Haley did this first? Never mind Bill, we got it from the Renegades! Originally from the UK the Renegades emigrated over to Finland back in 1964 and caused a sensation only rivalled by the Beatles.'

Last Time Around (Rare b-side from World Domination UK 7')
'Another Nugget, a song by obscure Michigan outfit called the Del-Vetts. 'Last Time Around' almost made it to 'Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah' but original tunes won over it.'
