Charlie Megira and the Modern Dance Club are a remarkable Rock'N'Roll phenomena that took the Israeli underground sleaze-rock scene by storm. The vigorous foursome consist of Charlie Megira on guitar and vocals, Mimi Shanel on drums and ecstatic rhythms, Dead Girl on bass & class and Chavier on polaric guitar. Together the MDC manage to fuse years of underground R'n'R experience into PA shattering vibrations and to bring something new and sensational to the needing crowd. Charlie Megira, the chief MC of the MDC, started to perform his unique R'n'R on Israeli stages during the mid 90s with his first band, The Shneck. During the same time, Mimi Shanel was busy setting innocent Tel-Avivian rock clubs ablaze with her primordial garage band, The Wetbones. Both released holy-grounds shattering solo albums that brought back that distinctive 50s sound to the Israeli crowd, aiming towards creating a world in which Israeli history was filled with muscle cars instead of tanks and Art Deco diners instead of army bases. The two joined forces in the early 2000's and created Charlie Megira and the Hefker Girl, an atavistic rocknroll unit that interfuse Belial Rock n' Roll and coffin-shaped New-Wave and Post Punk. Years gone by and after some intense periods of performing and one brilliant album, Charlie and Mimi decided to add some more sailors to their battleship. Chavier and The Dead Girl joined and the Modern Dance Club arrived. After an excellent debut album as Charlie Megira & the MDC, a tour in Germany and numerous local shows, no one can stay indifferent to the MDC sound. Their own idiosyncratic cocktail of pure Rock n Roll is exactly what needed to revive your rotten souls. These days Charlie and the MDC keep sharpening their knifes and nails, working on new materials and planning their second European attack. Prepare for invasion!
