Once again we present you with this year's BALLROOM BASH's complementing CD - a short summary of the fifth label-festival, which was held in Cologne for the very first time. You'll be listening to a selection of four songs by each of the six bands that were performing, some of which are yet unreleased! The lowpriced CD is a great compilation of a fantastic festival lineup (Janey & the Ravemen, Wild Evel & the Trashbones, Les Playboys, Ray Daytona & the GooGooBombos, The Moonstones and Kommando Beat) as well as an insight into the wild 60's Garagepunk/Merseybeat/R&B/Hammondsound/R'n'R - sound that SOUNDFLAT RECORDS has been releasing for almost ten years now. Finally it makes a perfect souvenir for the Ballroom Basher to be reminded of that raving weekend!
JANEY &THE RAVEMEN - Authentic 60's Hamburg-Beat-Aplenty featuring members from the Kaisers, Rapiers etc. Janey & the Ravemen pick up the beat baton from where the legendary Kaisers left off and deliver a sound so authentically 1964 it hurts. The Ravemen include in their all star line up not one but two of The Kaisers founding members alongside former members of The Rapiers & Fabienne Delsol. This brand new and highly promising mixture produces a sound which will not disappoint, British Beat at its finest. When listening to their sound it becomes obvious these boys & a girl have the same American R&B influences that the bands back in the day had. Think Beryl Marsden / Lulu / Sandra Barry backed by The Roulettes / Swinging Blue Jeans and you won't be far wrong. Solid pounding back-beat with skilful, pure guitars, perfect harmonies topped with the irresistible versatile female vocals compliments of the 1st woman of beat Janey. For the first time outside the UK, Janey & the Ravemen were treating the Ballroom Bash with their live performance before the forthcoming release of their very first LP on Soundflat Records.
WILD EVEL &THE TRASHBONES - Wild & primitive Farfisa and Fuzz Garage Punk with Wild Evel from the Staggers Wild Evel, frontman of Austrian Garage Rock-heroes The Incredible Staggers has created a new and primitive Garage Punk Monster: Wild Evel & the Trashbones! A tough and trashy fuzzguitar-sound, screaming melodies and the 'three-finger organ' all add up to a rough, yet stylish Garageband, whose gigs are already legendary. After two 45s their first LP will soon be released on Soundflat Records; a perfect opportunity to ask them to play at the fifth Ballroom Bash!
LES PLAYBOYS - 60's French Yeye meets 80's Garagerock Les Playboys have been rocking the French Riviera since 1976 now; being part of the 80's Garagerock revival they are considered to be the French equivalent of bands such as for instance the Chesterfield Kings - only with a becoming French Yeye aftertaste. Known for their great live shows at almost every international Mod weekender, the band also graced the Ballroom Bash with their presence, after their on Soundflat Records released album Anthologie.
RAY DAYTONA & THE GOOGOOBOMOS - Italian Garage Punkers with a wild surf attitude Italy's wildest Garage Punkers Ray Daytona & the Googoobombos have already more than convinced us with their smashing album Caballero! These guys and girl combine Surf, Punk, and Garagerock with psychedelic elements in a unique way that tastes of The Cramps and is consequently perfect for all 'rock'n'punkers' with a crazy party-attitude.
THE MOONSTONES - Fuzz, Farfisa y Fiesta Considered to be one of the most promising bands of the Spanish Garage scene at the moment, THE MOONSTONES have recently issued their very first and long-awaited LP on Soundflat Records. Its title FUZZ, FARFISA Y FIESTA already says what they are all about: Rocking music filled with a lot of Fuzz guitar, 60's farfisa organ and a crazy party attitude; all of which is set in Spain. THE MOONSTONES provide us with an authentic mixture of Garage, Punk and R&B and are consequently just perfect for the SFR Ballroom Bash!
KOMMANDO BEAT - German Beat This stylish Garage/Beat-quartet from the Rhein-/Ruhr area embodies an ingenious musical connection between The Montesas and Cool Jerks; an early 60's British Merseybeat sound, strongly influenced by bands like The Kinks, The Shadows or The Yardbirds, spiced up with German lyrics. New LP now out on Soundflat Records!
