Spinout Records and Sundazed launch a new series of High Speed Sounds! Los Straitjackets are the world's leading practitioners of the guitar instrumental. Taking their cue from the style of the Ventures, the Shadows, Dick Dale and Link Wray, the band has pushed the style into the 21st century with their memorable live performances, albums and TV appearances, all the while clad in their trademark Lucha Libre masks. On this vinyl release, Los Straitjackets cover two iconic songs from the Me Decade. On Side A they take the James Gang's funky riff rock to Surfsville, and Side B is a soulful Duane Eddy-styled version of the Tony Joe White song (as made famous by Brook Benton). Los Straitjackets formed in 1994 in Nashville, TN. They have released 10 CDs on Yep Roc and Upstart Records and they have literally toured the world playing Moscow, Mexico City, Europe and almost every state in America. In addition, Los Straitjackets were nominated for a Grammy in 2004 and have appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien eight times. Their music has been used in numerous movies, TV shows and commercials.
