The Evangelist studio is an all analogue affair, controlling each part of the recording and mastering in house to create a truly authentic sound. The debut pairing of releases from Los Angeles bluesman Blind Boy Paxton and St. Louis ragtime hero Pokey LaFarge, showcase this sound amazing sound perfectly, with both being issued at 45 and 78 rpm. C.W. Stoneking has taken the world by storm in recent years with his very distinctive sounds which mix Calypso, Jazz and Blues amongst other musical forms. Stoneking's two long players 'Jungle Blues' and 'King Hokum' on his own label King Hokum Records have received much praise and his third much anticipated lp is in the works. Stoneking cut two tracks for Evangelist in under an hour with his orchestra before catching a plane back to Australia. The session resulted in his own swinging composition, 'Rich Mans Blues', and a swaggered traditional tune, 'Maggie Mae' .
