Our debut album 'Vivir Sin Civilizar' is finally going to be reissued, but not as it originally came out. It is coming out with several improvements that turn into exactly what we had imagined when we recorded it in 1992. Once we had finished the record, the results weren't what we had in mind, so we bought back the license from our label Romilar-D so that it would not be reissued and were able to keep it in a drawer until today. It is magical to see 32 years later how that first record has been transformed and reinvented into an album that finally makes us feel proud. Now it lets the expected power and wildness show; it is pure Doctor Explosion as we were back then. The guitars in 'Vivir Sin Civilizar' had been mixed too low for what the sound of a garage band should be, and the atmosphere of the album lacked the energy we wanted to convey. In this new edition, which is more of a reinvention than a reissue, the guitars are more present without losing the quality of the original production. Furthermore, the album had never been mastered, and this time around all tracks have been mastered at Circo Perrotti studio. 'Vivir sin Civilizar' is released by the Alan Smythee Records label. 'Alan Smythee' is the pseudonym that Hollywood directors used to sign a job with which they did not fully agree. And since the album retains that early 90s sound as part of its essence (charm), although now improved, we have decided not to alter it completely and release it under this pseudonymous label. The original design of the cover did not fully satisfy us at the time either, so for this new cover by Marc Argenter we have chosen a different photo from the same session in the Gijón cemetery with the brilliant Luis Hevia. This photo is even more impressive and the design is fi nally what we had been looking for all along. For the most nostalgic purists, an alternative version featuring the original photo on the cover will also be released in a limited edition of 300 copies on color vinyl, only available through mail order. 'Vivir Sin Civilizar' will be available on all platforms and in stores on vinyl and CD starting in May, and will include an extra unreleased song from the same recording sessions.
