Orange Vinyl, Glossy gatefold cover, 300 copies worldwide! More than three decades in and Sweden's Robert Johnson And Punchdrunks are still finding new ways of making instrumental rock'n'roll sound dangerous. "Pussy was wired for sound" throws surf twang, Link Wray-style guitar menace, late-'70s punk attitude and plenty of fuzzy noise into the band's usual cinematic blender - and then turns the bloody thing up.

There's a proper grindhouse feel running through the album, with sharp guitar hooks and driving rhythms conjuring up seedy underground clubs, sun-baked highways and the sort of films you probably wouldn't take your mother to see. John Carpenter and Pedro Almodóvar sit among the cultural reference points, but this never feels like a nostalgia trip or another generic surf-instro record. It's tight, punchy and wonderfully odd, with enough garage dirt around the edges to keep everything nicely unhealthy.

After all these years Robert Johnson And Punchdrunks clearly still haven't learned to behave. Thank fuck for that!
