A superb double-sider from the Carnival Records catalogue. The Pets' "I Say Yeah" dates from 1965 and comes from the period when a young George Clinton was writing and producing soul records around New Jersey, long before Parliament and Funkadelic. Co-written by Clinton and published through Motown's Jobete, it's a cracking girl-group soul dancer featuring Tamala Lewis on vocals - and an increasingly expensive original on the DJ and collector circuit.

On the flip, Lee Williams & The Cymbals deliver the original 1968 recording of "It's Everything About You I Love". Once regarded as merely a good mid-tempo Carnival side, growing interest from harmony-soul collectors has turned it into a highly desirable record in its own right. The song was later revived in a faster version by The Pretenders in 1980.

Two scarce Carnival sides on one 7" - girl-group soul on one side, beautifully harmonised late-'60s soul on the other.
