GUMBO YA-YA´S - Same LP

Preis: 13,20 €

Directly from Cape Town comes a new, trashy and primitive Garage-band: THE GUMBO YA-YA'S! The young quartet seems to have raw Garagerock in their veins the characteristic voice of singer Heino Retief (who also plays with THE FUTURE PRIMITIVES and THE REVELATORS) has a cool, relaxed and moaning tone to it and reminds one a lot of the fantastic GRUESOMES. The 'YA-YA'S' have catchy, bluesy guitars, a stomping beat and a cool attitude! After two great EPs out ('Superstitious Kisses' and 'Bad Juju') the boys now deliver us their fantastic debut album 'Wild and Confused'! The title song will blow your minds already with its sleaziness and cool guitar - with the screams in between it has a little bit of THE TROPICS' 'As Time's Gone' in it. All songs are self-composed except for a cool cover version of THE BREAKERS' 'Don't Send Me No Flowers', which is best known from the PEBBLES compilation. The boys keep the harmonies but add a bit more of a trashy touch to it. All of the band's songs have a great deal of 60s Garage influence in them. Not so much the commercial side of the 60s sound with catchy hymns and pop elements, but rather the primitive, underground one - it's simply a bluesy, raw, lo-fi guitar-sound that seems like its coming out of an American garage from the 60s. If you like new, trashy Garagepunk-bands like THE BARON FOUR, THE GUMBO YA-YA'S will win you over in no time! Make sure to get yourselves a copy of the debut album of South Africa's newest Garage-sensation and be prepared to get wild and confused with them! With Inlay!!!
