1993 classic debut alb by this Columbus, Ohio combo (active still with three recs on Epitaph and a new rec on Gearhead). What it sounds like? Balls-out loud-fast-simple PUNK ROCK! 14 deadly cuts recorded in 7 hours with super-loud distorto-guitar crunch, snot-caked vocals... The AURAL equivalent of 12 cups o' strong coffee! Destroy-Oh-Boy is probably THE record that re-wired the tired-ass world of "punk rock" (tho' DO NOT blame it nor the band for the utterly retarded past 10 years of retro "77 style" rehash or the even more ridiculous "oi/street punk" revival wherein Texas, Bay Area and Boston boys put on fake limey accents and revive the 1972 bovver boy look...). Max R&R's late Tim Yo summed the record up pretty well by saying "This is not regurgitated punk rock posing it is what raging punk rocknroll is all about. Album of the year, maybe of the last 5 years!!"(Unfortunately the success of Destroy-Oh-Boy caused a horrendous slew of regurgitated punk rock posing by the likes of Electric Frankenstein, etc al.) THIS was the rec that caused Sweden's Entombed to become the HELLACOPTERS. THIS was the rec that caused the HIVES to form. THIS is STILL the best goddamned punkrock record of the last 10 years.
