After a five-year break Amsterdam instrumental heroes The Phantom Four returned to the stage in 2025 with new drummer Martin de Ruiter - and apparently five years away only made them sound hungrier! While rehearsing in their new room on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the band liked the natural sound of the place so much that they simply decided to hit record.

"Spectral Sound Sessions" captures the band playing live together in the room, with longtime sound engineer Hector Wijnbergen behind the controls. The ten tracks dig right through everything that makes The Phantom Four so damn good: surf guitars, exotic instrumentals, psychedelic cumbia, Middle Eastern sounds, krautrock and punk, including new versions of older favourites, previously unrecorded covers and the brand-new "Wulfa". Raw, spacious and wonderfully alive - much closer to catching them in a sweaty club than another polished studio exercise.

Released in Europe by Wap Shoo Wap Records on mustard yellow vinyl and limited to 400 copies. Great instrumental stuff from a band that has always understood there's a hell of a lot more to surf music than just pretending it's 1962!
