So sorry for being so late to find out how amazing this band is (thanks to Tom)!! If you dig THE REIGNING SOUND...this is a must for you! *Blame the Clown* is a country-tinged punk rock album featuring steel guitar by Twisted Teens, a New Orleans-based band led by Caspian Hollywell and pedal steel player Ramone-also known as "The Razor." Released in 2026, the album blends early American rock traditions with punk aesthetics, creating a distinctive sound that defies easy categorization. Drawing from genres such as punk, country, garage rock, and folk, the album seamlessly weaves the pedal steel guitar into its arrangements alongside electric instruments. Unlike their debut album, *Blame the Clown* demonstrates a more focused approach to balancing these diverse influences, with the steel guitar serving as an integral component of the songs rather than merely an added layer. The album stands as a testament to sophisticated production, despite its raw energy and raucous moments. The band prioritizes instinct over polish; the album is the product of a year spent constantly touring and traveling, imbuing it with a rugged self-assurance and a lived-in quality. Caspian’s sharp vocals cut through vibrant arrangements in which melodies are interwoven with complex musical ideas, while the lyrics explore themes of perception, identity, and the boundary between performance and authenticity. Rather than offering neat conclusions, songwriting invites listeners to engage with uncertainty. The result is an album that feels simultaneously grounded and restless-rooted in familiar forms yet refusing to remain static-and which showcases the band's evolution from their earlier work toward a more cohesive and purposeful artistic statement.
