In turn, this music was a development of the sound that came before it, with many of the key players having been instrumental in the swing bands of the 30s and early 40s. Savage Rhythm is a compilation of this fantastic music, documenting the direct lineage from the Jazz and Swing of the 30s through to a more R&B-ready sound of the early 40s, signposting the way ahead for what was to become Jump Blues and eventually Rock and Roll.
