LAST COPIES!! Holy shit, what a discovery! Two previously unreleased recordings from 1974 by Bastard, the short-lived British proto-punk outfit featuring none other than Brian James, future guitarist and songwriter of The Damned, and Alan Ward, who would later unleash the notorious "Jet Boy, Jet Girl" with Elton Motello! Recorded a full two years before the British punk explosion, these tracks have been gathering dust for over half a century, and now Wap Shoo Wap Records have finally dragged them kicking and screaming into the daylight!

Formed in Crawley, Bastard made a name for themselves playing biker parties, Hell's Angels clubhouses and dodgy dives across Britain and Belgium. "Dr. Gong" is a menacing, hard-hitting proto-punk stomper with a sinister opening riff, wild Brian James guitar work and plenty of MC5-style firepower, with touches of Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper thrown into the mix. Flip it over for "Comfort", where the raw danger of The Stooges meets the razor-sharp rock'n'roll attack of the Flamin' Groovies. Loud, dirty and gloriously unpolished!

These recordings offer a fascinating glimpse of what was brewing in the British underground before punk had a name. Within a few years Brian James would help launch The Damned with "New Rose", while Alan Ward would make his own mark with Elton Motello. Released for the very first time by Wap Shoo Wap Records as their 30th release, strictly limited to just 300 copies worldwide. A bloody essential piece of proto-punk history!
