Originally released on Joe Bataan's Ghetto Records in 1970, Eddie Lebron's sole album with Orquesta Suave is a superb slice of tough New York salsa and Latin soul. Piano, percussion and brass lock together in a raw, driving sound that has made the original LP a sought-after record among Latin collectors.

From the punchy opener "Fui Sincero" and soulful "Yo Te Lo Dedico" to the six-minute workout "Eddie's Guaguanco", the album moves effortlessly between heavy salsa, Latin soul and deep barrio grooves. There's an appealing roughness to the production that suits the music perfectly.
