From Portland, Oregon - long-time breeding ground for some of the rawest garage-punk since the 1960s - come Amy Beth and Thee Creeps, proudly self-proclaimed American favourite budget punks. Their debut 7-inch EP, Shitheel, delivers four trashy, lo-fi blasts that crash somewhere between Northwest punk tradition and unhinged DIY spirit.
Frontwoman Amy Beth handles both drums and vocals, steering the band from behind the kit with a relentless, reckless drive. Flanked by Creep 1 and Creep 2 on guitar and bass, balaclava-clad and fuzz-drenched, the trio kick up a storm described as 'like a freight train that lost its brakes & quite possibly the driver!'
The EP includes three snarling originals alongside a feral cover of The Urinals' I'm a Bug, recorded with Mike Vasquez (ex-Sweatbox Studio, Austin TX). Sleeve artwork is provided by none other than design legend Art Chantry, adding extra grit to the package.
Hailing from the same Northwest underground that produced garage icons from The Sonics to Dead Moon, The Creeps carry that tradition forward with a trashier, nastier edge. Shitheel is not a polished debut - it's a jagged calling card, buzzing with urgency, distortion, and zero interest in playing it safe.
A debut to file alongside your Dead Moon, Wipers, and Oblivians records: raw, raucous, and real.
