Two years after their ridiculously good debut, Philadelphia's Dark Thoughts came back in 2018 with "At Work" - and wisely resisted any temptation to grow up, slow down or bugger around with the formula. Short songs, buzzsaw guitars, huge hooks and enough Ramones DNA to make leather jackets practically compulsory.

But reducing Dark Thoughts to another Ramones-core band misses what makes them so damn addictive. There's plenty of Queers and Riverdales-style pop-punk in here, but also the tougher melodic punch of bands like Marked Men and Radioactivity, all hammered into songs that usually get in, lodge themselves firmly in your head and get the hell out again before the two-minute mark. No solos for the sake of solos, no clever detours - just proper punk rock songwriting played fast and loud.

Originally released in 2018 and finally back on vinyl courtesy of Drunken Sailor Records. If the first Dark Thoughts LP gets you hooked, "At Work" certainly isn't going to help with the addiction!
