Although The Nerves existed for only a few years in the mid-'70s, the trio of Peter Case, Paul Collins and Jack Lee left behind a remarkably influential body of work that helped lay the foundations for the power pop explosion that followed.

What makes "Best Collection" particularly interesting is the source material. Created in cooperation with surviving members Paul Collins and Peter Case and Jack Lee's daughter Cynthia, the compilation was assembled from original recordings rather than the vinyl and CD copies used for some previous reissues. Warren Defever mastered the material at Third Man Mastering in Detroit, with some recordings heard here from their original sources for the first time since they were made.

Sharp guitars, huge melodies and songs stripped down to their essentials - the blueprint that would continue through The Plimsouls, The Beat and countless power pop bands that followed.
