Detroit's Mod Lang make an impressive debut with two sharply crafted slices of guitar-driven power pop.

Featuring members of Sugar Tradition, Secondary Colors, Shadow Show and Fen Fen, the band combines jangling guitars, bright vocal harmonies and irresistible hooks with the kind of youthful energy that made the best 70s power pop records so memorable. Fans of Big Star, The Raspberries and early Dwight Twilley should feel right at home.

A-side "TV Star" is an immediate earworm, packed with chiming guitars, catchy melodies and a timeless pop sensibility. On the flip, "3 + 1" delivers a slightly tougher edge while retaining the band's gift for memorable choruses and infectious harmonies.

A superb debut single that suggests Mod Lang could become one of the most exciting new names on the contemporary power pop scene.
