Nine albums in and the Cellophane Suckers still couldn't care less about trends, expectations or polishing the edges. "Donkey inching" lumbers forward exactly the way its title suggests - stubborn, unpredictable and completely on its own terms.

Forget verse-chorus-verse. Here, feedback is allowed to breathe, riffs grind against each other, tempos shift without warning and guitars hover somewhere between beautiful and completely out of control. One minute the band locks into a relentless motorik groove, the next they're dragging the whole thing through a cloud of distorted noise before kicking the accelerator back to the floor.

There's plenty of love for outsiders along the way. Spencer P. Jones gets a fitting nod on "Execution Day", Neil Young's towering walls of guitar noise cast a long shadow, and even Charles Bukowski finds his place in this beautifully crooked collection of songs. It's rough, hypnotic and just awkward enough to keep you coming back for another spin.

For listeners who like their rock'n'roll noisy, uncompromising and just a little bit strange.
