The Speedways return with another beautifully crafted slice of power pop, this time leaning heavily into the sound of late-'70s and early-'80s UK new wave. "All Bets Are Off" has all the ingredients you'd want from them: bright guitars, plenty of energy and a huge soaring chorus, while the lyrics take a rather more thoughtful look at trying to become a better person.
The flip is particularly interesting. "Angela Sincerely" was co-written by Speedways mainman Matt Julian with power-pop legend Paul Collins, who also appears on the recording. A pretty perfect meeting of two generations of melodic guitar pop.
And a nice little extra for collectors: every copy comes with a Speedways playing card!
