The Superfonics is a raw, high-energy 1987-1988 group that combined players from the Boston Garage scene with a hard-charging traditionalist frontman. The result was a unique fusion of Garage, Roots & Rockabilly, which was not in any way planned or calculated. Members of the band had deep roots to the Boston scene, having connections to such seminal bands as DMZ, The Odds, Real Kids, Amazing Crowns, The Varmints & many others.

In October 1987, these 8-track recordings were made at the original Roxbury home of Boston's legendary Fort Apache Studios-engineered by Paul Kolderie (Pixies, Hole, Radiohead, etc) & mixed by Jim Fitting of Treat Her Right. At the mixing session Alan Sheinfeld came in for special effects using Ron's vintage Echoplex tape echo. We all knew at the time that we had done something special at this session, but there was absolutely no money to finance a record. A tape of 'Leopard Man' was distributed, receiving airplay on WBCN & other stations. Fast forward to 2022!
