Hung Up On You….The first JTQ album with James singing the songs, most of which are funky rock, some a bit punky.Basically it's JTQ but the guitarist has turned his amp up. The tunes were written originally for James' other band 'The Prisoners so a lot of it is in that style. There's also three Jimmy McGriff style hammond funk instrumentals on the record. James has been doing a lot of recording with Billy Childish and The Prisoners and so felt the time was good to try his usually jazzy band out on this more Rock'n'Roll stuff, the band loved it and you can clearly hear that in the recordings. Recorded in March 2024 at Ranscombe Studios in Chatham Kent.So far the singles have been getting daytime BBC 6 music play from Craig Charles and the instrumentals are being play-listed on Jazz FM. James has been on 'Earlier With Jools Holland' BBC radio 3 recorded the show in August for broadcast in September and is appearing on South East at six BBC News feature Sept 16th. More press and radio still to come.JTQ are always experimenting with different musical ideas, e.g. they've made a choral album, soul albums, jazz albums, orchestral albums and this album should not be viewed as the shape of things to come, just a little tribute to James' friends and colleagues from his home town Rochester, namely Billy and the Prisoners, plus…its a damn fine play.
