Seattle-Tacoma five-piece TV Star finally deliver their debut album with "Music For Heads", ten tracks that sit somewhere between jangly psych, hazy indie rock, garage and shoegaze without settling too comfortably into any of them.

Formed in 2020 through a shared love of '90s psychedelia, shoegaze and outsider alt-country, the band combine warm, drifting vocals with chiming guitars and a lean rhythm section. There's plenty of Brian Jonestown Massacre-style psych jangle in the mix, while the softer moments have some of the dreamy warmth of Mojave 3. Despite those reference points, TV Star manage to avoid sounding like another exercise in '90s nostalgia.

Recorded at various locations around Seattle and Anacortes, "Music For Heads" feels loose and organic, with strong pop melodies emerging through the psychedelic haze. A fine debut from a band finding their own place between guitar pop, psych and the noisier edges of indie rock.
