The Higher Elevations hit the world with their first, and highly praised, 'Perfect Day/Lovestruck' (Kite Recordings) single in April 2003. The reputation rose constantly due to the groups high class songs and performances. This got them regular broadcasts on a number of radio stations in Europe and northern America. Their music has been heard and appreciated in the docks of Rotterdam, on the foggy streets of Aberdeen and in the back alleys of Albuquerque. As a live act the Higher Elevations continued to try out new material from time to time, doing shows as support act to Swedish colleagues like The Sounds and Division of Laura Lee. In July 2004 Little Teddy Recordings issued the EP 'There is a Town'. The song 'Just Like Juliet' was immediately put on rotation on some German radio stations. The same year the group released the 'Lovestruck' EP (The Beautiful Music) in Canada. At the end of the year the group returned to the studio to record their first album titled 'Always the Same' (Little Teddy, 2005), including guest appeareances from Richard Lloyd (Television) and BjOern Olsson (ex-Soundtrack Of Our Lives). The reviews were great: 'Peter Perrett has risen!', 'So hymnic, so blasting that inevitably ones heart goes boom' and 'Everything done absolutely right!' were some of the voices. In the beginning of 2008 The Higher Elevations are back with a new album. It is called 'The Protestant Work Ethic' and the bands finest effort so far. They have a new lead guitarist, Martin Oestlund (ex- Cheval Route), and also the Swedes recruited the ambitious and always on the go musician Mads Husvik (ex-The Carnation, The Nuggets,The Basement Brats) to play the organ parts on a couple of songs. To spice it all up a bit the great Suspiria Franklin (Les Baton Rouge) contributes a splendid performance on 'The Paperback'. During a phone call with TimeForAction rec. Niklas Gustafsson dropped the line 'It's about My Former Classmates' describing the aspired direction of the album concept. It hits the mark quite precisely if you want to characterize this release. At least that's what we think! The album contains 14 songs! First copies will be colored vinyl! (lim. of 100)!
