Tokyo's Numbertwo have been kicking around since 2006, but somehow managed to stay well below our radar until now. "I Was Here" originally appeared in Japan in 2021 and it's easy to understand why the first press of 300 copies and the subsequent 200-copy second pressing disappeared quickly: four tracks of raw, urgent '77-style punk rock with hooks, heart and a serious rock'n'roll kick.

Think The Stitches, Pagans, Dead Boys and the rougher treasures buried on your favourite Killed By Death compilation - but Numbertwo aren't simply playing dress-up with old punk records. These songs have that immediate, sweaty live-room feeling where the band and audience seem about two inches apart. Fast, ragged and bursting with energy, but catchy enough to have you yelling along before the bloody thing is over.

Originally released by the band's own Demos Grit Records, "I Was Here" now finally gets a small European pressing courtesy of Sounds Of Subterrania. Four songs, no bullshit - this is exactly how punk rock should sound!
