A major piece of Minneapolis garage history finally gets its first proper album. The High Spirits were part of the Twin Cities' mid-'60s teen scene, starting with raw garage rock before gradually venturing into increasingly psychedelic territory.

"I Believe" collects their sought-after singles and adds ten previously unreleased recordings from the vaults, making this much more than a straightforward singles compilation. Alongside the band's own material are lost takes on songs associated with The Who, Sam Cooke and The Beau Brummels, tracing their development from teenage garage beat into full-blown psychedelia.

Their influence also reaches beyond the original '60s scene: three members would later become early members of Prince's band, adding another fascinating chapter to the group's story.

Garage, teen beat and psych from a largely overlooked corner of the Minneapolis scene, finally assembled into The High Spirits' first-ever LP, complete with an extensive liner-note insert.
