"Buzzsaws" is the debut album from Brower, the solo project of Queens, New York's Nat Brower, formerly of Nancy and Metalleg - and it's a glorious great glitter-covered kick up the arse! Following the "Little Big" EP, Brower piles fuzz guitars, huge vocal melodies, sugar-coated harmonies and ridiculously sharp hooks into a record sitting somewhere in the sweet spot between Marc Bolan, Bowie and Brett Smiley.

This time there's considerably more dirt under the glitter, though. The guitars are louder, the gain is cranked up and a healthy dose of New York grit stops all those massive melodies from becoming too bloody polite. Glam, power-pop and punky rock'n'roll smashed together with laser-beam guitar licks and hooks coming out of its ears - exactly the sort of record that reminds you why glam and punk were never really that far apart in the first place.
