Straight outta Johannesburg, South Africa, come NECKLACE, a four-piece outfit turning the frustration, chaos and contradictions of their hometown into raw, gloriously fucked-up rock'n'roll! Imagine Suicide, The Stooges and The Velvet Underground somehow finding themselves wandering through the darker corners of Johannesburg, picking up a few new bad habits along the way. Sounds promising? You bet!
Slovenly Recordings discovered the band playing at the Twenty One Children house in Soweto, where their explosive mixture of energy, rage, joy and sheer artistic abandon apparently made quite an impression. And now here comes "Manual Breather", bringing that same restless underground spirit onto vinyl. Dark, primitive and uncompromising, with the sort of attitude that makes rock'n'roll interesting in the first place.
Forget polished production and fashionable retro nonsense. NECKLACE are coming from somewhere entirely different, geographically and musically, and that's precisely what makes this Slovenly release so intriguing. One for the adventurous garage, punk and underground rock freaks!
