Melbourne's The Sprouts bring together members of Dippers, Chook Race, Ill Globo, Thigh Master, The Small Intestines and Permits for eleven songs of wonderfully scruffy, warm-hearted guitar pop. "Singin' With The Sprouts" sits firmly in that great Australian tradition where jangling guitars, garage-pop roughness and ridiculously natural melodies somehow sound as though nobody involved is trying particularly hard at all.

There's plenty of Velvet Underground and Modern Lovers in the DNA, with the melodic warmth of The Go-Betweens never too far away, but The Sprouts have that unmistakably loose Melbourne feel of their own. First single "Hit Me Go Down" is particularly lovely - inspired by Rob Remedios' time working in a hospital memory clinic, it's a beautifully understated song about growing older and memories gradually slipping away.

Recorded and mixed by Matthew Ford and mastered by Álvaro Lissón, "Singin' With The Sprouts" is melodic, slightly melancholy, occasionally wonky and quietly bloody addictive. Exactly the sort of record that doesn't shout for your attention and then somehow ends up being played all the time!
