Colorado's Tongue Action deliver a gloriously loud collision of '70s punk, sleazy hard rock and straight-up rock'n'roll on their self-titled debut album. At the centre is Pablo Ono, whose previous bands include Electric Frankenstein, Killer Hearts, The Guillotines and Shit City High, so the pedigree for this kind of racket is certainly there.

There's plenty of variety beneath the dirt. "Kill City Riot" mixes Lords Of The New Church-style punk with sleaze-metal swagger, "Emily Baby" has the frantic drive of the Celibate Rifles, while "Oh Beast!" throws some T. Rex glam into the mix. By the time "Wild Nights/Wild Rose" arrives with stomping Slade-style rhythms and saxophone, fists should be safely in the air.

Members of Killer Hearts also appear on five tracks, adding even more Houston rock'n'roll firepower. Loud guitars, big choruses, glam, punk and plenty of bad behaviour - no reinvention necessary.
