Originally released in 1968 as a promotional-only 45, this is the first ever reissue of a rare single by California psychedelic folk-rock outfit Weird Herald.

Emerging from the San Jose and Saratoga folk scene, the band featured guitarists Billy Dean Andrus and Paul Ziegler, whose circle included musicians such as Skip Spence and Jorma Kaukonen. Unlike the more electric side of Weird Herald, both tracks on this single showcase the band's gentler and more acoustic approach.

"Saratoga James" is a beautiful folk-psych piece built around intricate fingerpicked guitars and rich vocal harmonies, recalling the early recordings of Donovan. On the flip side, "Just Yesterday" offers a laid-back blend of folk rock and country rock with subtle Byrds influences and a timeless West Coast feel.

A highly recommended reissue for fans of late 60s folk psych, acoustic West Coast sounds and artists such as Donovan, The Byrds, Moby Grape and Kaleidoscope.

Limited to 315 numbered copies and housed in a vintage-style picture sleeve with an insert featuring liner notes by Cam Cobb.
