One of the foundation stones of Peruvian rock. Los Incas Modernos emerged from Callao in the early '60s and recorded what is widely regarded as the first Peruvian rock LP, combining the new sounds of rock'n'roll and surf with musical ideas from their own surroundings.

The instrumental "Terremoto" brings Ventures-style surf guitar together with a tough rock'n'roll drive, while "Carnavalito" transforms the Andean-rooted melody of "El Humahuaqueño" into electric surf rock. Elsewhere the album moves between twist, instrumentals and the more melodic side of early-'60s rock.

Originally released in the early '60s and reissued here for the first time, it's a fascinating document from the very beginning of South American rock - primitive, melodic and full of twanging electric guitar.
