Once again, SOUNDFLAT RECORDS is proud to present to you the brand-new record by your favourite 80's Garagerock/Yeye band from France: LES PLAYBOYS, a band which has been immitated many times, yet never equalled. Paying tribute to their teenage souls, you can clearly feel the 60's Beat roots of the five musicians, who present you with 14 excellent titles, inspired by their different influences. You'll be able to hear their homage to the likes of QUESTION MARK & THE MYSTERIANS, THE EASYBEATS, JACQUES DUTRONC, THE UGLY DUCKLINGS or SIR DOUGLAS QUINTET. The album starts off with a magnificent cover of the Motown classic 'Love's gone bad' by CHRIS CLARK bearing the typical PLAYBOYS hallmarks. LES PLAYBOYS have a very versatile sound, as they approach 60's Beat in an open-minded way, which is once again reflected on this record - their songs range from a prototypical Freakbeat sound ('La vie revee'), to a psychedelic homage to SERGE GAINSBOURG's 'Comic Strip' with their song 'Splash' 'Elle dit' is a classic Merseybeat title, that sounds like a missing BEATLES-song in French, whereas 'J'ai toujours raison' is a catchy Garage-song with a cool organ 'Personne n'est parfait' combines fuzzy Garage with an R&B influence and 'Comme une Cigarette' is a wonderfully danceable track with a predominant farfisa sound. The band also included a cover of 'Putty in your hands', which was famously covered by SYLVIE VARTAN in French back in the 60's however, the PLAYBOYS offer us a more rocking approach with different lyrics. In the tradition of the band you can expect tracks written with pens dipped in humorous ink the third cover on the album is 'Je dis ce que je pense et je vis comme je veux' (originally by ANTOINE ET LES PROBLEMES), for which they changed a few words in their funny manner.
