More than four decades after their beginnings in the American neo-psychedelic underground, United States Of Existence return with their first new full-length album.
Originally known from the early 1980s revival scene alongside bands championed by Greg Shaw and Bam Caruso, the group reconnects with the sound that first earned them cult status while exploring new territory. "Lavender Glory Trip" combines fuzz guitars, Mellotron, sitar and rich vocal harmonies with a warm, homegrown production that recalls both classic 60s psychedelia and the adventurous spirit of the early neo-psych movement.
Drawing inspiration from groups such as Electric Prunes, Blues Magoos, Strawberry Alarm Clock and The Association, the album moves between colourful psychedelic pop, sunshine pop, baroque pop and acid-tinged rock. Built from a mixture of newly written material and ideas dating back decades, the result feels remarkably fresh while remaining firmly rooted in the band's psychedelic heritage.
A highly enjoyable return from one of the overlooked names of the 1980s neo-psych scene. Includes insert with liner notes by Richard Allen.
